I broke the box spring. I jumped on the bed and the wooden slats broke. It was free anyway.
The manufacturer recommends I don't use a box frame. I will need a new frame to keep the original height of the bed. I want to get a cheap frame on Amazon that includes steel slats but I'm not sure if I should ham it up a little more. Any advice?

FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT.
I don't think you need to ham it up any more buddy.
Aren't slat sizes standardized? Why not buy replacement wooden ones and keep the frame?

First, I'm referring to the box spring the mattress sits on. Without removing the box spring and flipping it over, it looks like the slats are fastened to dozens of metal structures that attach to the top of the box spring. It appears these slats aren't designed to be individually replaced.

Ah ofc those wouldn't be replaceable, my bad. Welp good luck, I have no relevant advice, I'll pray for you .

Get rid of bed. you dont need it it only makes you weak. Mattress on floor is ok, bare floor is better.

That's how you get a moldy mattress. Needs airflow.

The only problem with the slat beds is that over time the slats will shift diagonal and fall off the edge of the frame and then the bed isn't supported in that spot. It just requires taking the mattress off and reseating them but it's still a pain in the butt

Yeah but then the bed frame isn't as portable which is the whole point of the slat bed

Did i say "nail" or "glue"? Did I say use these? How often do you need to move a bed anyway

Looks like there's a lot of variation in slat bed designs and it would be a permanent modification to screw the slats in on mine, it was not made with that in mind. Often enough that I wouldn't screw in the slats so that it's easier to move

How would you "ham it up" exactly? "Box springs" aren't what they used to be. You're just paying for a metal or wooden frame surrounded by fabric whose main purpose is to elevate the bed, improve breatheability and distribute pressure, but they no longer need to have actual springs in them obviously.
Get the Amazon steel slat version. I have one and it works great.

As in getting something that actually looks nice. I'm not sure if I want some of those more fancier frames. Example:
https://www.totallyfurniture.com/king-mid-century-modern-solid-wood-spindle-platform-bed-caramel-walker-edison-bkspinca
Regardless, I was thinking of defaulting to one of those metal frames. I liked the elevation the box spring provided so I think I'll have to get one of those 18" frames (like the Amazon one you've mentioned, which I've eyed)
