Last night, in festive spirits for Christmas Eve I cut up four (4) navel oranges into lovely even slices and put them into my dehydrator hoping to fill my kitchen and home with the smell of dried oranges. I put some cinnamon sticks in there as well for aroma . When I woke up this morning, the oranges are nicely dried, but do not smell like oranges. They have basically no smell. I can smell other festive smells in my house perfectly So it's just the oranges for real. The whole fricking point is that dried oranges make a fragrant FESTIVE garland.
Scientists of rdrama, why dont my oranges smell like oranges? What is going on?

All the volatile terpenes that make citrus fruit smell good were dried away and effectively destroyed. You need fake fragrance
