Citrus sisters - a Christmas science question

Last night, in festive spirits for Christmas Eve :marseyreindeer2: I cut up four (4) navel oranges into lovely even slices and put them into my dehydrator :marseychefkiss: hoping to fill my kitchen and home with the smell of dried oranges. I put some cinnamon sticks in there as well for aroma :wolfnosepass:. When I woke up this morning, the oranges are nicely dried, but do not smell like oranges. :marseysnoo: They have basically no smell. I can smell other festive smells in my house perfectly :marseylitwick: :marseywaffle: So it's just the oranges for real. :capymadsantahat:The whole fricking point :shakefist: is that dried oranges make a fragrant FESTIVE garland.

Scientists of rdrama, why dont my oranges smell like oranges? :marseyscientist: What is going on? :marseyschizowall: :marseyragecomicfu:
