I'm torn between
a garlic sirloin roast and green 
bean casserole, but I think 
the green 
bean casserole is probably my favorite.
Fresh green
beans 
trimmed/cut, none of that frozen 
or canned. You get a little 
extra snap biting into them, they aren't soggy or wet. Fresh 
diced mushrooms 
and garlic/onion/bacon thrown into a pepper 
jack cheese 
roux, instead of premade soup in a can with dry seasonings. Simple, but you can taste 
each of the flavors individually. Baked nice and bubbly, with crunchy onions scattered throughout for a little 
extra texture, with some bread 
crumbs on top for extra browning.
I feel super
accomplished 
baking a hearty veggie savory dish. It always feels 
like a lot of work from the outset, but the end result is so goddarn tasty 
that I feel like a chef and want to make holiday 
meals every day.
