I lived in Rome for a little bit.

See the Vatican and Sistene Chapel

St John's Basicilia has some VERY impressive statues of the 12 apostles. VR Tour. Click 5 and look over your right shoulder at Matthew. He's reading a ledger with his foot on a bag of coins spilling out. Across from him is Bartholomew who is holding his own skin and the faces are the same.

St. Paul's Outside the Walls

Santa Maria Maggiore

Michelangelo's weird Moses statue at San Pietro in Vincoli

Spanish Steps

Piazza Navona

Trevi Fountain. In that same area there is a tie store called Fratelli Segatori that sells ties with naked girls on the back, full bush.

Victor Emmanuel II palace thingy

Colosseum / Forum / Circus Maximus

Pantheon

If you have the time go to Napoli and onward to Mt Vesuvius. Climb the volcano and also go see the ruins of Pompei and find the brothel and the Casa dei Vitti to see a fresco of Priapus with his huge schlong.

La Pieta is pretty impressive if you want to see that type of artwork, it's immediately to the right as you enter the Vatican.

Get ready to wait in long lines and go thru security, which was added after 9/11.

Wear long pants to enter the churches, they prefer it. I can't remember the rules on hats.

Try to eat at places that aren't in big tourist centers.

If you go in the summer and have too much money in your bank account you can travel to Siena and get tickets to the Patio horserace. That's the race at the beginning of James Bond Quantum of Solace. Spend extra bucks to rent someone's balcony. Not mandatory at all but interesting. If you wanted the city sectors you might run into a church where they bless one of the race horses.
