You're fricking r-slurred and should unironically keep yourself safe if you don't like Napoli pizza.

Comparing American pizza to Napoli pizza is like comparing throwing a bullet to shooting one.

I went last year

Vatican City is intense :marseypope2:

There's so much art everywhere. The door frames have more art than most people will see in their lives

St Peter's Basilica was almost a sensorial overload

There's a weird energy to that place

The School of Athens freco is astonishing when you're standing in front of it

Creation of Adam is a lot smaller than expected, but as you look at the ceiling, all the whole piece pops out like 3D, it's trippy

The rest of Rome is pretty dirty, and the drivers are fricking crazy

Oh yeah, the pizza fricking sucks

Get normal pasta

I lived in Rome for a little bit.

See the Vatican and Sistene Chapel

St John's Basicilia has some VERY impressive statues of the 12 apostles. VR Tour. Click 5 and look over your right shoulder at Matthew. He's reading a ledger with his foot on a bag of coins spilling out. Across from him is Bartholomew who is holding his own skin and the faces are the same.

St. Paul's Outside the Walls

Santa Maria Maggiore

Michelangelo's weird Moses statue at San Pietro in Vincoli

Spanish Steps

Piazza Navona

Trevi Fountain. In that same area there is a tie store called Fratelli Segatori that sells ties with naked girls on the back, full bush.

Victor Emmanuel II palace thingy

Colosseum / Forum / Circus Maximus

Pantheon

If you have the time go to Napoli and onward to Mt Vesuvius. Climb the volcano and also go see the ruins of Pompei and find the brothel and the Casa dei Vitti to see a fresco of Priapus with his huge schlong.

La Pieta is pretty impressive if you want to see that type of artwork, it's immediately to the right as you enter the Vatican.

Get ready to wait in long lines and go thru security, which was added after 9/11.

Wear long pants to enter the churches, they prefer it. I can't remember the rules on hats.

Try to eat at places that aren't in big tourist centers.

If you go in the summer and have too much money in your bank account you can travel to Siena and get tickets to the Patio horserace. That's the race at the beginning of James Bond Quantum of Solace. Spend extra bucks to rent someone's balcony. Not mandatory at all but interesting. If you wanted the city sectors you might run into a church where they bless one of the race horses.

Rome is the most beautiful city in the world, imo. Some personal recommendations:

  • The Pantheon, the most beautiful building I've ever seen in my life. I remember sitting in the piazza before it and just staring at its majesty.

  • Largo di Torre Argentina is an excavation of Roman temples and Pompey's Theatre. It is the location were Julius Caesar was assasinated. Allow me to repeat: you can visit the place that Julius Caesar was assasinated. It is also home to a tribe of stray kitties.

  • Terme di Caracalla is the ruins of a Roman bathhouse. It is truly enormous, with beatiful surviving frescos and other artifacts.

  • San Nicola in Carcere is an old church. For a small fee, you can descend into the crypt to see the ruins of the ancient Roman temples the church was built upon.

  • Roman Forum. This goes without saying. You have to see the centre of society and government of ancient Rome.

Tips- buy your tickets in advance, not like before :marseyskellington: the entire trip but in advance, places like the Vatican cam get quite busy and some of the areas have limited numbers :marseysoypointdubz: of people that can go a day

Never buy tickets from people walking :marseyskinnedwalk: around in front :marseyviewerstare: of the museums

Also, random :marseycitrusshrug: dudes, almost always black, will approach you and start asking questions in english, usually harmless stuff like "what time is it", once you respond back in english :marseybongcop: it means you're a tourist and they'll start begging :marseypleading: for money, what you should :marseynorm: do is simply ignore :marseyerasure: them and walk away

As for what to visit, a lot of the classics are a must, no reason to try to go for niche obscure :marseynonpotable: stuff if it's your first :marseywinner: time

Restaurant wise I don't know Rome well enough :marseyitsallsotiresome: to tell your but the Trastevere neighbourhood is very nice, it's a short :marseymanlet: walk from all the main tourism centres and has great :marseyobamadope: seafood :marseyravegigaspeed: too (according to romans I know)

Also, make sure you see the prices of the food and the wine before :marseyskellington: you order, it's not very common these days that they don't tell you the price and it's secretly high, but it still happens
