!fincels !peakpoors !fellas anyone with NYC experience, is a $120k (without bonus, median $180k with bonus) enough for a single male to survive in NYC with some dignity?
First year joinees can usually make upto $300-$500k but thats in the top 5%ile. I'm not that ambitious, ruthless or intelligent.
Also, they called me on 8th Feb 8:30 in the morning. There would be a mixer session from 9-10 with senior partners. How tf do you even dress for that.
I'm having a panic attack. I have wanted to switch to sell side research for a long time. Now that the dream is close by I'm very nervous.

As long as you don't currently have a family, definitely do it. If you make it to associate you will be making 300k at least. You don't need to do IB your whole life. Depending on if this is in IB, research, sales and trading etc, you have different routes you could take to consulting, the buy side etc. You are probably going to have to work long hours so you do want a short commute, which means you are not going to have a spacious place. If you live somewhere in midtown it's not as bad as trying to be hip and living in the village. If you stay in NY long term, once the hours settle down, the wise move is to get the frick out of there and move to a suburb.
edit: the site you need to know is streeteasy.com
