Got an interview offer from one of the big 4 IB Firms (GS/Citi/JPMC/MS). Good compensation but have to move to NY :marseypuke: Should I go or refuse?

Got the mail like 15 minutes ago

!fincels !peakpoors !fellas anyone with NYC experience, is a $120k (without bonus, median $180k with bonus) enough for a single male to survive in NYC with some dignity?

First year joinees can usually make upto $300-$500k but thats in the top 5%ile. I'm not that ambitious, ruthless or intelligent.

Also, they called me on 8th Feb 8:30 in the morning. There would be a mixer session from 9-10 with senior partners. How tf do you even dress for that.

:marseyaaatremble#: I'm having a panic attack. I have wanted to switch to sell side research for a long time. Now that the dream is close by I'm very nervous.

Big 4 IB? You mean bulge bracket?

What's your current profile? I'm assuming MBA going in as an analyst/associate (i forget what IB calls their b-word positions). If you know what you're getting into, the answer is obviously yes. If you don't, the answer is probably no.

:#marseykekw:

Got a 1590 in SAT, had my first nervous breakdown, said frick this, went to join special forces, they told me to frick off, went to mm, became a merchant mariner junior officer, left, got an associate's degree from a bumfrick community college, did retail banking and credit disbursement for 1 year, did CFA L1, got into junior analyst role in a small firm, been doing that for the last 2 years.

I'll probably do this finance bullshit for a few more years before I venture into something else.

How does it feel to know you'll always be too fricking stupid to get the last question?

Honestly I think you should go for it, and try to take NY on its own terms. Embrace the bustle and try being less racist. Everyone likes a fun rich banker with great drugs. (I went out with a few)

I honestly think I just blanked out during the exam. Should have gotten much lesser actually.
