Got an interview offer from one of the big 4 IB Firms (GS/Citi/JPMC/MS). Good compensation but have to move to NY :marseypuke: Should I go or refuse?

Got the mail like 15 minutes ago

!fincels !peakpoors !fellas anyone with NYC experience, is a $120k (without bonus, median $180k with bonus) enough for a single male to survive in NYC with some dignity?

First year joinees can usually make upto $300-$500k but thats in the top 5%ile. I'm not that ambitious, ruthless or intelligent.

Also, they called me on 8th Feb 8:30 in the morning. There would be a mixer session from 9-10 with senior partners. How tf do you even dress for that.

:marseyaaatremble#: I'm having a panic attack. I have wanted to switch to sell side research for a long time. Now that the dream is close by I'm very nervous.

How old are you? $120k kind of sucks for banking in NYC but if you don't live in Manhattan you'll easily make it work financially. If you're young, it might be worth doing just to get your foot in the door & network your way to an actually-good job later.

It's probably a good career move, then.

Expect to work your butt off though. I always hear horror stories of bankerboys preparing useless slide decks and spreadsheets at 1 am for some client presentation the next day.
