look im not a car guy, but wouldn't you first remove the engine from the car before disassembling it?

Depends on the engine. Inline 4s can be done on the car easily enough in most instances.

Sometimes it's less of a pain repairing it in place. Some cars require the front end remobed and entire engine bay emptied
