Within 3 days of the baby being born—after the adrenaline and initial excitement wears off—you will regret it. You will have extended sleep deprivation, you will feel like shit, be physically and mentally exhausted. It is really terrible, doubly so for the woman because breastfeeding sucks. Your relationship with your spouse will suffer. Your life will be much, much worse than it was even during the worst part of the pregnancy. Recognize also that having a kid is probably the first truly irreversible change in your life and that you are stuck with this decision forever. What is your favorite way to relax? Drinking with friends? Never again. Vidya? Never again. TV? Never again. Not only that, but a newborn at that age is a little shit. They cry, eat, sleep, show no gratitude or recognition towards you. They just look at you blankly and if you do everything just right they might reward you by not crying for a little bit.
Around week 6-8 your baby will smile at you for the first time.
Your heart will melt. You'll forget all the suffering and spend the rest of your life contentedly doing all you can to earn those smiles. You'll probably have another kid and go through all that suffering again.
The final red pill on kids is that you should've have them sooner.
