I want to open my email app every day at 8am so I stop missing message but I can find literally no way to do it. I basically just want a cron job that opens the app in the background so it can fetch any messages and alert me about them.
!codecels plz be my tech support
Edit: Open app scheduler can do this but it's closed source and pissy about how you install it (If you install it outside of google play it just refuses to start and sends to google play to redownload it)

The question isn't how to do it, but why the OP wanted to. If your app is being shitty and not updating in the background opening it on a schedule isn't a good fix.

I used to have a bunch of Tasker shit implemented and it all got built into Android, a sign of my prescient tastes. I think the last thing was playing a tone when wireless charging starts/stops

the app shouldnt need to be open to download messages
you probably need to disable "battery optimization" for that app so its allowed to run in the background without the OS killing it. its different for different variants of android but its a common problem, theres lots of guides out there.
usually the app itself helps you do it

You'd think that but if it runs into network issues it fails to auth to the server and won't try again for hours or until I open it.
Will disabling battery optimization anyway tho
