I have an attention-grabbing dog and I like it when other people come over and are giving her a big fuss and saying what a big dog she is, and while they're doing that I pet their little dogs and call them handsome boys and they'll often roll over and let me rub their bellies.

With my own dog I will usually say something "Who's my beautiful girl? Is it you? Yes it's you! Good dog!" And then she'll wag her tail and trot over to me for side scratches.

I like to sing songs to mine. Usually replacing words that end in y with her name. And replace beats with meows. She meows back when I do that.
