Broke my screen replacing the usb port on my Pixel 3a XL, no big deal right? 5 year old phone, very popular, lots of replacement parts!
It's 130 if I buy locally. I could upgrade to a pixel 4a XL for 160.
Even from Aliexpress it's 55! That's 1/3rd the value of the phone!
Why are there no after market parts? I don't need oled! I don't need HD! I'd take a 480 led screen if it was cheap

Idk, but you should have a screen protector and case. Learned the hard way; now I never buy a new phone without them.

Oh I didn't break the screen doing anything, I broke it replacing the USB port. Pulled a lil too hard on the screen while removing the glue and it broke.

I owned a (regular non-XL) 3a once upon a time and I think I remember pixels from that generation having exceptionally fragile displays in terms of removing them to work on the guts of the device
I assume you have already looked into the adb options for pulling data from the phone? Idk what the status of that is these days and you probably have to enable it on the phone (with a functioning screen) before you can pull anything but it's worth a look if you haven't already.

i was so gentle. I just let the glue cool a little too much
It's unauthed now! I don't know it that's because it's locked or I changed out hardware.

Ohhh Okay. I've broken two phones trying to DIY repair, myself.

How did you break xem? I want to repair one which had its battery swollen. I don't think it's that hard but I don't want to f#ck it and end up rendering the device useless, and don't want to pay the local repair man because xe is a happy merchant that will probably give me the worst battery imaginable and charge me x3 what it costs

Tried to replace a battery on one, screen glass on another. There are some phones where replacing the battery is trivial, on others like the one I had it's a complex and delicate task.
