Homoween :marseyghost: is right around the corner, I've decided I'm doing a pirate :marseypirate2: theme this year.

!homeowners, are you going to decorate your yard? If so, what are you doing?

We have some skeletons and bats that we put up each year. We don't get trixk or treaters which I was disappointed to learn our first year.

That sucks dude. But at least you can do it for yourself. My neighborhood has a lot of young families so I get about 30-40 or so a year.

My evil thoughts say I want to put up a garbage bag and duct tape that looks like a human body on my balcony and get the news called on me and maybe interviewed and be on tv! But idk the hassle and police calls aren't worth it. Maybe just a body hanging with guts spilling out. One of those "omg is halloween going too far?? that's distasteful" vibes

I have a wench costume, I adore the pirate theme!

I've never decorated the entrance area to my house for Halloween in my life. We give out candy, but its not a high impact area for trick or treaters. Sucks to suck

Where do you generally get your decorations from? Do you have a favorite shop?

I grew up in the country so I feel your pain. I've always loved decorating, so I'm making up for that. Last two years I've done a graveyard theme. I build most of my stuff. Here's last year from the street. I built a coffin a couple of years ago. It's on its last legs, so I'm probably going to cannibalize it for the ship this year. Frick I love Halloween.

:marseywould: you are an artist! I'm from the countryside, too, my current house is in town though so it's a change for sure. We have a lot of rowdy behavior around here because of a large student population. I worry that my efforts will become someone's playthings

Well thank you! I could see that. Darn drunk college kids would definitely walk off with a skeleton. Heck I would.

Back at you. Cannons aren't too difficult to build. My plan is some PVC on planks but they're going to be obscured by a ship. What I'd do is build a small gun cradle from pallet wood. Go to Menards or Home Depot and get small plastic wheels and a 5' section of 4" PVC pipe and two end caps. Cut the PVC in half, that way you can have 2 guns. To make the guns look real, sand the PVC with 60 grit to add texture. Base should be matte black. For depth, dust with grey spray paint. They'll look convincing enough for kids/passers by. If you want to be fancy buy some 4" to 5" flairs and put them on the end. To add, pirate cannons were generally pretty small, like 4 to 8 pounders. so you can be historically accurate.
