It sounds like an argument about ineffective counsel in essence. If you go shoppi g for an attorney that tells you its ok to murder your b-word ex-wive, is that an absolute defense against the murder charge? No, and also the attorney is disincentivised from giving advice like that because it gets him disbarred and he loses his job and income forever.
Also, dodnt Trump pay the hooker before he was elected? Immunity seems completely irrelevant to the case because it doesn't concern his actions as POTUS but as a private citizen...

They're using the fact that he was a president at the time to jump it from a state level offense to a federal level offense so they kind of have to take the good with the bad there. The state level offense already had its statute of limitations run out and the federal government declined to prosecute so they've got an attorney general who's being very creative
