I really don't understand the logic here. This is unheard of in basically every other country in Earth. Why the frick are non-citizens being able to vote even an issue? It should always be a hard 'frick off c*nt' to anyone who suggests it.

Eh I imagine the headline must be overblown, it's not saying "illegals can vote", it's saying "you can't require this documentation to register someone to vote." But clearly there is some sort of material interest in having something that proves citizenship (and thus eligibility to vote), but maybe it's not based on listing your birthplace? idk.

If a person's birthplace isn't relevant, and a person's citizenship has also been ruled irrelevant, then they're saying illegals can vote

I'm assuming that there is some reasonable way to determine whether someone is a citizen for purposes of voting eligibility, because if there isn't then the ruling does not make sense even in its own verbiage. There is still a recognized interest in determining eligibility, so the court is not going to just outlaw any method of doing so.

Yeah Arizona lists the following documents that must be presented to register to vote:

If you have an Arizona drivers license or non-operating identification card issued after October 1, 1996, you will only need to list the license number on box 9 of the voter registration form.

If you do not have an Arizona license you may need to provide one of the following documents to establish proof of citizenship:

Supporting legal documentation (i.e. marriage certificate) if the name on the birth certificate is not the same as your current legal name

A legible photocopy of the pertinent pages of your passport

U.S. naturalization documents or fill in your Alien Registration Number in box 11 on the voter registration form

Your Indian Census Number, Bureau of Indian Affairs Card Number, Tribal Treaty Card Number, or fill in your Tribal Enrollment Number in box 10 on the voter registration form

A legible photocopy of your Tribal Certificate of Indian Blood or Tribal or Bureau of Indian Affairs Affidavit of Birth

This just apparently says they can ask where you were born, and when you list Geneva, Switzerland or whatever--they pull your application or require you to produce extra documents past a nationalization certificate

But hey, it's politically valuable getting people to think an army of Landscapers are staging 5th column voting manipulation plans.

I've met wetbacks, those neighbors don't vote.

Of course all of this could be solved with the SSA issuing a free national voting ID like most other countries have
