Lot of great lines in here, including about how the boots looked the same on boys who were so different and how no one can really tell the whole story (just 60k different perspectives).
Many of those troops would likely have thought twice of enlisting if they were able to see how those they fought and died for think of them (and their ancestors and descendants) now.
But they wouldn't have known this at the time and I'm grateful for their service and sacrifice.
