The issue with republican states isn't the nice places to live it's the cities like Jackson, New Orleans, Memphis, ect. Doesn't take long to notice

st. george didn't secede, they incorporated previously unincorporated area (swamps with DLSD developments full of white people trying to get away from joggers)

Even on a piecemeal scale in reverse, there's the Memphis city school system suicide saga years ago. They spent years trying to merge with the county schools, with the county overwhelmingly voting against it. Finally Memphis City schools basically declared itself defunct and inoperable - which automatically absorbed it into the county. All the suburbs immediately created their own individual city school systems. Same song and dance proceeded - this is racist, this will make your system worse (citizens were still paying county taxes though), all that shit.
