It's probably always been like this, I'm no old fart so I wouldn't know, but I think the advent of the internet has made political stunts like this way worse. You don't even need a crowd or a news agency to grandstand to anymore, you can just waste everyones time and then it will be disseminated all over xitter and whatever as a snappy headline.
