It's just a dummy tax. "But what if you're living paycheck to paycheck?" Use credit, there's credit cards out there for neighbors with terrible credit scores that won't frick you in the butt like an overdrafted debit card will.
Crazy how some people can open bank accounts somehow but not turn off overdraft.
