Right now it would be political suicide to oppose him and we all know (((politicians))) care about their own political future as their primary goal. There are points where they will be forced to push back even if they try and frame it in a different way.
Alternatively everyone in congress is r-slurred and really wants the democrats to be able to do whatever they want next time they are in power. The problem with saying we have a strong monarchy is that congress don't matter at all anymore and whoever is king can decree what happens. Like doubling taxes, creating universal healthcare and making abortion federally legal everywhere.
