Rwanda is surprisingly developed looking

They have a GDP/capita of 820$ BTW, poor even by African standards.

:marseyhmm:

They don't have street view in smaller roads but inside the capital even what looked like low income neighbourhoods looked OK, not first world tier but definitely way better than I'd expect in a country in that income class.

Normal neighbourhoods looked pretty typical I guess.

And this is 50 km from the capital, on a highway admittedly but for a poor country the way they built green patches next to the road is pretty impressive.

Two lane highway but I guess they're a tiny country and don't need more, don't see much traffic in the street view pics either.

It isn't just about the money, take this in Monrovia which is also another massive US aid recipient.

Admittedly its poorer but there you see what really makes poor countries even uglier than they have to be, apathy. Random wrecked vehicles just dumped by roadside. :marseysad: No amount of foreign aid can make these things function properly without good administration. Like look at the poor neighbourhood in Kigali, you can see a few plastic packets thrown in the depression, subhuman litterer behaviour like many other third worlders. But either its a low population % or they clean regularly instead of letting such sites become garbage dumps that are cleared maybe once a week.

if you watched @BitwardenShill's video they banned plastic bags lmfao, like the dude said that on the plane to rwanda they said to remove plastic bags from your suitcases if not you'll get into trouble and shit :marseyobey:

Plastic wrappers on chips, plastic bottles etc are a bigger menace in my experience. Even on multi day hill trails you'll see them occasionally here.

You gotta have people in charge who give a shit about keeping things clean and orderly, instead of just looting the government coffers.
