I understand it’s an important historical event but it seems like it was just made up and everyone went along with it because they want a day off. I had never even heard of it before a few years ago. Big yikes, I know. I’m working on addressing my ignorance.

It isn’t for me but it’s now a federal holiday so bankers and the govt employees and some woke corporations have the day off

It’s kind of like Veteran’s Day or MLK Day where government offices and banks are closed but the majority of private businesses are still open. Everyone I know is working today yet.
