To make a new broadcast unit, I bought 2 pairs of cheap Logitech desktop speakers, total peak output of 12 watts, which isn't that powerful. Fortunately, the area that I am targeting with this unit has great acoustics, so the sound output should be sufficient. The area is basically a 2-lane alley, with the property boundary running down the middle of the alley road. Slab-sided concrete buildings on either both sides of the alley and concrete road surface in between, so the broadcast music gets bounced around perfectly.

I drilled a small 1-inch hole through the side of "my" building and ran all the 3.5mm audio and power cables for the speakers through it, along with some steel wire to support, suspend, and bundle together the broadcast unit. It's not that high off the ground, maybe 13 - 14 feet up, so we'll have to see if it's vandal resistant at that height.

For some of the previous broadcast units I built, I enclosed them in steel cages for protection against thrown objects, but I didn't have the time today to find a cage for this new one. The old cages I was using were just rigid-wire inbox/outbox baskets like you would find at an office supply store, and I'm sure I have one lying around. Just have to find it.

I'm using an old cellphone as the media player, borrowed from the last surviving broadcast unit from the original project. That last unit is still in place and ready to activate at any time, but I haven't had to activate it for many months.

I'll mess around with the playlist next week, but for now I'm just using one from the original project. I'll have to listen to the new speakers a bit to see how they perform and what kind of audio range to expect before I can tailor the playlist to avoid the limitations of the speakers.

The culprits!

These nogs have figured out how to use stolen shopping carts, plywood boards, and tarps to build a kind of homeless gypsy caravan that they can pack up and move out in just 1-2 minutes at the first sign of police or social workers, so that whenever I call in the police or social workers, they turn up to an empty alley and tell me "case closed", when really the nogs have just fled a block or two away, and are back to camping in the alley within minutes of the authorities leaving.

The nogs (no latinx or illegals from what I've observed) are always doing and selling drugs, and there's likely some prostitution going on as well. It baffles me that the latinx on the other side of the property boundary are completely fine with parking their vehicles in the middle of this nog encampment all day long and passing through the encampment to take out trash or unload deliveries.
