20 years ago I could buy a 1.75L bottle of Karkov for like $12. Today I can buy a 1.75L bottle of Starr Blue for $15. I assume it's all still made the same way, how is it still so cheap?

Because it's made from excess, low grade (animal) or waste foods. They buy up the stuff farmers couldn't sell and distill it
@iStillMissEd is actually working on a way too do the same thing using rhizopus oryzae and food waste for @iStillMissEd's moonshine. Managed too get a yield of 4% abv from a mix of spoiled corn and fly ridden potatoes
