America has the ability to win wars on the other side of the globe. It's done it before. With modern weaponry it doesn't require a single pair of boots on the ground. In the Middle East there is absolutely no MAD. America can kill 10% of the population and there's nothing they can do about it. If Islamism proves more intractable then Nazism or Nipponism, which I don't think it is, it can always just drop more bombs. The whole thing is a question of will.

This is the line the Air Force fed people before World War II, and in Korea, and in Vietnam. It didn't work.

It worked eventually in WW2 with the German economy being totally destroyed in late '44.

In Korea the Air Force said they couldn't adequately support the war and keep enough strength in reserve if the Russians attacked in Europe. Truman chose Europe over Asia, which was really the fundamental split between him and McArthur.

In Vietnam you had LBJ and his whiz kids picking individual targets too bomb each day. The Air Force had no role in it and @Aswangactor0 assume we're pretty fricking adamant that this is not how too fight a war like the army was.

@Aswangactor0 stand with Israel, a country that won all its victories through its air force.

The Germans did not surrender until the infantry was in Berlin. Over 90% of all buildings in northern Korea were destroyed but they did not surrender as long as they were backed by Chinese infantry. Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia received the largest total bombardment in history, but North Vietnam did not surrender and supplies still flowed down the Ho Chi Minh trail in the areas American infantry would not operate. The point is not that air power isn't important, but that it never wins war alone.
