I've heard that the translator messed up his pronouns or something and he was talking about Houthis in general. But I don't speak Arabic and pro-Palestine people lie like they breathe so take that with a grain of salt. I personally don't think that he was in the room with the hostages because I think he's a poser and not high-ranking enough to be trusted with the valuable hostages (at least at the time).
