If you think stopping aid to israel is going to "save" civilian lives, its not. A ceasefire just means that this happens again, and again until the end of time. Unironically more "lives" would be saved by turning the strip to dust than prolonging this any longer if that's the metric you care about.

I'd be much more on this fence if Israel didn't let settlers build into west bank during peace time. They use Gaza as an excuse to jab their fingers in palis eyes. Being outwardly provocative in peace time is dumb.

The problem is that governments answer to people. And people, by and large, aren't interested in just sitting it out in the long term until the heat dies down. General populations want things to be better as soon as possible, and sometimes that leads to calls for swift and decisive retaliation. They seek the path of quickest relief which may be violence, until the violence goes on for so long that the relief comes from peace, and the cycle continues
The comment isn't just about Israel anyways. I see the same pearl clutching when cams get posted of Russian soldiers dropping their weapons and still getting domed by a mortar

I saw people saying russians were committing war crimes by using civilian vans to transport ammo to their troops because they ran out of military vehicles in the area. Imagine being on the front lines watching your friends get blown to bits and then some fricking redditor saying you shouldn't use the functional car right next to you to help your people because its "not fair"
People can crow about honor all they want but nobody should honestly expect this stuff to be ironclad once the bullets start flying

It's not that it's not fair, it's that moving ammo and troops in unmarked civilian vehicles gives the enemy a reason to blow up vehicles driven by actual civilians because they can't distinguish between the two. It's not any different from Hamas's human shield tactics.
It's the same reason as why it's a war crime to pretend to surrender. It's not because it's cheating, it's because it's telling the enemy that they should just stop bothering to take prisoners.

I mean what you described isn't life or death, it's officers sending men to the front knowing they don't have the military vehicles to supply them, then instead of ordering them to retreat or surrender trying to supply them with civilian vehicles without marking them with a Z or whatever.
Those officers should be court martialed. Of course the modern strategy is to make your troops look like civilians and cry when actual civilians get killed in the confusion so I'm sure they didn't.

A big thing reddit failed to !nooticers was that Israel can only be so soft on Gaza because of American aid. The iron dome is very costly when you compare to just dropping a few bombs on where ever rockets are fired from.
