It's not illegal. Deportation is a civil issue and so isn't subject to judicial review, so a deportation by definition can't be illegal. If they want to fight their deportation then they should file a civil suit from wherever they are sent back to.

Sure, because obviously it would be excessively burdensome to the process of arresting someone if they could litigate it on the spot. There's judicial review, just not during the heat of the moment where it obviously wouldn't make sense. But on the other hand there's no reason why deporting someone as an end to end action needs to not have any sort of judicial checks, unless we're talking about border control where a decision is being made on the spot. It's a process argument - if Trump can just abduct an American citizen minding their own business at home and put them on the next plane to a Salvadorean prison without there being any sort of due process to contest the legality of this decision then that's obviously crazy.
[Edit] I guess per this thread, then yes the deportation of Americans is not that rare. Somewhat horrifying but I imagine there are still egregious process failures involved in these outcomes, like you are still not supposed to just pick someone up and then yeet them across a border without doing any sort of checks.
