This isn't the first time that Israel has besieged an Arab city and cut off the water. During the 1982 invasion of Lebanon they did the same thing to West Beirut because some Palestinian terrorists were hiding out there.

This is from episode 9 of Harab Libnan (War of Lebanon), the most epic documentary ever. They interview everyone on every side in the Lebanese Civil War. The relevant part starts at 05:20.

Highlights include the Israelis bringing water trucks to the front lines to sell it to desperate civilians. I'd never be that creative. The Americans struggled to get them to turn the water back on, but the Israelis would make promises and never follow through. As Phil Habib said "They say there's technical difficulties but I think the technical difficulty is the Israeli guys at the end of the line don't want to do it."

Other interesting moments in this episode:

• George Hawi has an amusing story about selling weed to Israeli troops. After this was filmed he was assassinated by the Syrians.

• Notice they also interview Elie Hobeika, notorious for the Sabra and Shatila massacre. He was also killed soon afterward.

• Several other people in this episode narrowly survived assassination attempts against each other. Are you starting to get why I like this?

• Israel invented a brand new concept: The mobile cease-fire. I can still advance into enemy territory as long as I'm not firing at them, right?

• Gigachad legendary journ*list Ehud Yaari explains why Israeli reservists resented getting called up to protect Israel and then ending up in Beirut killing civilians. Boomers are morally superior to millennials in any country.

Then it gets into the assassination of Bashir Gemayel which really deserves its own post because there's a couple of really funny stories about it.

Didn't we just go through the same shit with the 6 million beheaded babies? Israel would NEVER walk over the bodies of innocents to get what they want right? Surely Mossad didn't withhold critical information before a "certain attack" on "certain monuments" in a certain year to get the US to flatten their enemies for them? Right?

Think about it:

You're in Islamic Jihad. You shoot off a rocket. Where did it go? How the frick do you know? You're not a djinn with magical powers. You just know it was going the right way when you fired it.

You're an Israeli pilot. You return from your mission and see the news. They ask if there's any possibility you could have made a mistake and bombed the wrong building. Of course not.

It's entirely possible that both sides honestly believe the other side did it but they have no proof so they're lying about each other.

Another possibility is that Israeli extremists did it intentionally because they wanted to frick up any possibility of Biden actually making progress in de-escalating the violence. I consider this fairly remote because there's a lot of people in Israel who would do this, but I doubt there's enough of them in the air force at the same base to pull it off.
