I used Chrome's "performance insights" tool. I opened reddit.com and rdrama.net in incognito, and ran the pageload test. NOTE: I am not a webdev so I might be misinterpretting these numbers.

I think a lot of the webapps are purposefully shitty so you download the app. But in this case it might be that reddit is just that incompetent

web2x (reddit's desktop rewrite) was pretty incompetent tbh. i really don't know what happened there to make it such an issue. i think /u/FreeSpeechWarrior (go1dfish) made a reddit frontend that apparently used the same tech stack and didn't load as shit
