No wonder Twitter never made any money. Why on earth would they need a climate change division?

Every time I see someone who's been laid off they're always working in an even more ridiculous department than the last one.

I wonder if every tech company is like this now or if Twitter is especially bad?

I'm so sick of hearing about it and everyone says something different on it

It's real, but not the end of the world.

Also, not a single environmentalist that opposes nuclear power wants to fix it.

It is bourgeoisie eschatology. If we randomly empowered with leadership a group of climate activists, they would end up wiping millions of poors off the earth intentionally or not.

It's real and it's going to frick us hard, but it's pretty much impossible to predict when or how bad it will be. Forecasting anything 30+ years into the future is less science and more wild guessing. There are simply too many variables to account for and very small changes in the initial conditions vastly change the outcome.

Like for one example 20 years ago they put up signs at Glacier National Park basically saying that by 2020 the glaciers won't exist anymore because of climate change. They weren't wrong that the glaciers there are going to disappear, they certainly are, it's just impossible to predict when that will be.

I am not going to sacrifice my and my community's well-being so that a bunch of africans and :marseytunaktunak:s can make up the difference with exponential population growth and complete stagnation of efficient technology.

If all those whiny trust fund kids wanted to make a change they would have studied physics and thermodynamics and worked to develop technologies that can be implemented in developing nations instead of just whining about Steve Q. Everybody driving his car to work while leeching money off corporations putting up the façade that they care.

As for the radical centrist part, once climate change actually starts it'll cull the most inefficient producers first (costal developing populations) so might as well accelerate.

Environmentalists would gain more traction with normal people if they just said, "look, don't you want to live in a world with clean-smelling air and trees and stuff instead of these Dark Satanic Mills?" Appeal to peoples' sense of comfort and aesthetics. No one really dislikes trees, not even the chuddiest of chuds.

Instead they browbeat people about the literally imperceptible rise in a transparent gas that somehow lets sunlight in but not back out. A problem that can't be solved as long as China remains uncooperative (and they always will be).

They also fricked up by choosing a spokesperson who looks like the trolls from David The Gnome and Harriet The Spy had a baby and peed on it.

It's real and it is gonna cause major global upheavel like we havent seen since the industrial revolution (unbased and cringe).

But we're not gonna stop it, not only because only the west cares about it while being too small to prevent it, but also the only way to actually prevent it is to go back to pre-industrial society and technology (based and epic). But that would cause at least as much, if not more, upheavel than global warming.

In the end, we should try to minimise it, but more than anything we need to prepare for the consequences and mentally be ready for uncomfortable decisions and a life less luxurious than our current. We have to be prepared for mass refugees on a level that the west quite literally wouldnt be able to feed, we will see entire regions devolve into war and anarchy (middle east), most likely nuclear war between minor powers (certainly SA vs Iran; probably india vs paki, also likely israel at some point). In the west we will lose many luxuries because we have to be more self-sufficient and cant let chingchongs, sexy Indian dudes, and slant-eyes manufacture it for us. Food diversity will drastically go down, caloric intake as well (though i dont see caloric starvation), meat will go back to being a "rarity" - meaning maybe once a day instead of every meal. Extreme weather will be a common occurence we have to adapt to: tornadoes, flooding, snow storms, draughts will happen every year, and our society has to adapt to it and accept that people will die more often.

Oh yeah i forgot that probably a ton of shitty african BIPOC diseases will come here to yruop. Malaria and all that shit. But im actually not overly worried about that, once shtf with it we will get off our asses and either find a medical solution, or just holocaust the carrier insects (no i dont mean the BIPOCs this time).

Honestly, ironically the west is best situated to deal with climate change because our post-climate change is temperatures that equatorial regions deal with already. So there is plenty of animal and plant life that will flourish. Those regions are where it will hit the hardest.

Also, at least for yurop we might also see much colder climate when the gulf stream dies. Because right now we are far warner than our lattitude allows. New york sits around rome, yet compare their temperatures in the winter. Scandinavia is equivalent to the frozen wastelands in canada.

It's real. At an individual level you can do nothing to change the planet's global signature. You can however at best try to plant a few seeds or plants or something to feel better and it may help at a local level. However, long term it's an r-slured idea to expect 8 billion people to be on the exact same page, if they could do that we wouldn't need government, so it makes logical sense to actually have the corporations go green on their end as they are to primary producers of greenhouse gases anyways.

The underlying problem is overpopulation. Doesn't matter if you cut everyone's carbon emission to half. As soon as we double the population we are back to where we are.
To battle climate change you have to kill billions of people.

If the industry was actually maintained it would be cheaper and kept getting safer.
