Apple takes serious money from Google to keep them as the default search engine in their browser, right? How is this not some sort of anti-trust violation?

:marseyconfused:

:marseyscalped: : Sorry, sir, you can't ask people to compete by price on becoming the default search engine for your browser.

:marseychad: : Okay, we'll just pick Google anyway.

:marseyscalped: : Thank you for not violating antitrust law.

Google pays Apple money (between 8 and 12 billion per year according to the nyt), Apple keeps competitors to google services out of its walled garden possibly so customers funnel instead into google affiliated services. Am I missing something here?

You can change the default search engine in safari. If apple forced users to only use google's search engine, then you'd have a good point.

Back in the day Microsoft didn't force anyone to use Word, Office, or Internet Explorer either but didn't keep them out of antitrust troubles.

Thought you were being sarcastic, since you liked how antitrust ruled about something or 'nother on Internet Explorer with Gateway(?) computers. Also, a dumb ruling.
