Bought a new phone last year:

8 gb ram

120hz screen

5000 mAh battery

Stylus

Headphone jack

256gb storage plus included 256gb sd card

$350

Why tf should I bother buying a new one anytime soon? As an upgrade? Lol the "flagships" cost 3-4 times more and have less features, so why bother?

Exactly, mid-budget is where it's at.

What did you buy? The battery in my Pixel 3A is starting to get iffy and I'll probably upgrade this summer but don't want to do the research.

This https://m.gsmarena.com/motorola_moto_g_stylus_5g_(2022)-11462.php got it on sale, which Motorola phones tend to have happen often. Keep in mind the software isn't as good as the Pixel phones, and will only go to Android 13 (update for moto phones dropping this year). Tbh atm I wouldn't pay even 350 for it, so only buy if it's cheaper or a new gen comes out.

Moto release a ton of phones each year, and sometimes the upgrade is a totally different product line, so read the specs.

Edit: https://www.motorola.com/us/smartphones-moto-g-stylus-5g-gen-2/p?skuId=777 it's $250 atm, that's pretty good if you can live with only Android 12/13.

I almost bought their cheap phone with the huge battery when I bought this, but the short support cycle was a huge turnoff. I'm disappointed that Google dropped/killed the Android One program because I was kind of looking forward to buying a $200 Nokia beater and getting four years of timely updates on that sexy, lightweight stock android experience. I don't really use my phone for much beyond communication, maps, and shitposting during work hours so hardware performance is a very distant second next to reliability and longevity.

Moto software is pretty close to stock, with only a handful of added features that can all be turned off. The 2 years of major updates does 100% suck though, and why I'll never buy a flagship from them.

I will add that since Android 12, stock isn't really that fast, hoping Google fixes that. So don't get too focused on stock Android for phones, just avoid the shitty Chinese skins that are total trash (OnePlus, Xiaomi, Oppo).

This is fair. Stock was less important than the years of guaranteed updates on cheap third world phones with plastic backs, but Moto really needs to get their shit together.
