Reddit's downtime last week was due to Kubernetes renaming their git master branch :marseylaugh:

Something something SJWs

Edit: This actually has nothing to do with git but I was in a hurry to post so enjoy your fake news

Over the last few years, we’ve put a major emphasis on improving availability.

Why? Who gives a frick.

So some coomers didn't get any new content for a few hours and foids didn't get to post about how brave they are for opening their own jars and :!marseytrain:s didn't get to validate each others genders. Maybe some of them even desisted and became normal. We can hope. Everyone else didn't get their infinite scroll fix of Drumpf news, Twitter screenshots and TikTok videos. So what.

Reddit has castrated itself so thoroughly that not a single user missed out on anything. That's probably why they're making a big deal of it. Any longer and the NPCs would have started to realise.

They’re in the attention economy. If you’re not browsing Reddit and instead browsing TikTok they are loosing money.

On paper anyway.

Why would a website care about its single most important metric :marseyclueless:

if it isn't available they don't have shit. they don't have a website and nothing else about it matters because you can't access it

Because they've put a major emphasis on ruining everything else about it. But don't worry, the tepid pile of shit doesn't have as much downtime anymore.
