This is a decent show about Adam Neumann and his equally crazy butt wife https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WeCrashed

The company was already having problems under Neumann's leadership (partly because he was siphoning off money) and after he was forced out, and coof hit, that was the final nail.

Applying VC money to the real estate business was a great idea but idk how he thought he could get away with buying properties to sell back to his own company using the VC money. It's even more blatant than BLM and that Trudeau-associated WE charity buying luzury houses for "Business" reasons, but even more directly fraudulent

It's on Apple TV+. Their shows, other than a handful, get very little marketing for whatever reason.

The only explanation I have for how he came to power was that he was in a gay relationship with Masayoshi Son

Soft Bank gave these r-slurs more money after the first (failed) IPO attempt. Unironically think that reversing everything SB does would make you good money in the long term.

Some guy really designed a method for remote workers to show up to a office and thought it would work.

The problem was never the business model, those offices were very very popular. It was just the insane over optimistic growth plans, sketchy profiteering by Adam, and COVID that killed it

The problem was that he invested tons of VC cash in the office spaces before the trend of remote work really took off. Now that office spaces are worthless he's stuck holding the bag because of the trend he was trying to profit off of.

It's seriously a fricking peepee move when you think about it.

Like the whole gimmick is taking away people's ability to just work remotely.

Force them to commute to some shitty rented building downtown, which inevitably will have a lot of traffic surrounding it.

Guy deserved everything horrible that happened.

Nothing horrible happened to him. He got away with it.

Shared office space isn't a terrible idea, it's just not a tech company that deserves tech company valuations or can deliver tech company rates of return. It's a boring commercial real estate operating company.

Nothing wrong with that! But it should be run by some boring old white guy and not some insane boozer who thinks he's a visionary.

Btw now that guy somehow raised a ton of VC money to do the residential real estate version of that.

Exposed brick and pool tables in the apartment lobby right next to the community barcade!

Holy shit I've been fricked by some reverse splits but 40:1, that's a serious peepeeing.

Call me an r-slur, but shouldnt a reverse split not actually change anything about the value of a stock? How do you get fricked by it?

That's how they always sell it, but companies that reverse split are usually already in trouble and even after the split the share price keeps falling. AMC is a good recent example. They did a 10:1 reverse split when their shares were trading at ~$4 and the CEO was out there saying, no need to freak out your shares are going to be worth $40 after the split. Within a week the share price was $8 lol.
