Xda rebranded since the last time I used it :marseyeyeroll:

Do you know which hardware revision/model number/SoC/CPU yours has?

If you can somehow figure out which SoC it has, I can probably find a thread with instructions that won't brick it. Even just the year it was manufactured in would probably be enough.

This shit is super fun; I spent a lot of my teens messing around with rooting and flashing and modding various cheap androids back before Google made rooting break everything important

Oh thanks dude, that offsets what I lost when I pinged the dixie group yesterday lol

The SoC (system-on-a-chip) is basically just the CPU of the device. In an ARM context (so smartphones and small devices like fire sticks and raspberry pis) the CPU+GPU+(sometimes)RAM+etc is all stacked into a single chip, so it's called an SoC as a single unit but the term is practically interchangeable with CPU.

Idk how FireOS is set up these days and how different it is from android at this point, but there should be a way to find an "about" section in settings with info on the model.

This might help. We're looking for the "device type" information. From there it's just a matter of finding the matching xda subforum. It might end up being the one already linked by Bookers.
