Lots of seethe on Twitter. Discuss the societal implications, and what degenerate thing you're going to make when stable diffusion released their copy in a year!

Also, what will it take for Yann LeCum to admit he is wrong? We'll have AIs that simulate the future and he will still be arguing they aren't intelligent and his model (which is essentially the same thing) is better

OpenAI doesn't let you do anything fun/edgy/degenerate anyway, I'm holding out for the next Stable Diffusion.

They put out a new 25 minute video almost every day. Most of the tards in the comments of these type of videos seem to be clueless that the entire thing is AI.

You're too caught up in the white middle class straggy redditors who like Marvel movies and think new dopamine cycles will ruin them even more. Which is very real. But I still think there's more to life than that and most people want more than that, or more important spend most of their life doing bullshit menial labour which could be redirected to useful things if they had the tools to do so. Film/architecture/literature/law/politics etc etc will all be heavily impacted. Either by productivity gains or shortening time between ideas->real life, in every single industry or hobby on the planet.

the obvious example here is individuals being able to make movies w/o needing a huge studio w/ committees, just a small team of talented people.

I'm of the opposite idea. This AI stuff sits right at a weird point where it's not good enough to make beautiful stuff or help us in our lives, but is good enough to produce mountains of scams and shit that drowns the good stuff on the internet.

Everyone kept bullying and making fun of the nerds on LessWrong, but maybe, just maaaybe they have a point :marseythinkorino:

On a serious note though, I remember listening to a Radiolab podcast (when it was overproduced but not insufferable) where they were talking about AI tools being made by Adobe that had the capability to completely manufacture speech based on like 60 seconds of a person talking (we have already more or less achieved that on mass scale), as well as completely AI generated video (exactly like this here) :marseyflushzoom:

The thing that REALLY stuck out to me was the Chinx woman they were interviewing; this was supposed to be one of the foremost experts on the R&D :marseynerd2: and she was not only completely uninterested in the potential negative impact of this technology, but after some mild pushing she even became antagonistic and indignant :marseyindignant: taking offense at the mere question of if she had considered the potential propaganda applications for this technology and literally reverted to (paraphrasing), "I am a researcher, my job is to figure out if the technology is possible, not how to use it." :marseyfacepalm:
