every single person who works at google should kill themselves

Unironically

Literally

and Figuratively

If you work at Google, you should commit suicide.

you were good, real good, twenty years ago

now you are a mere shell of what you are and all your results are AI-written SEO and Pinterest. 150,000 employees made this

Christ, imagine having a text file handy to copy-paste "switches" for a basic internet search.

(Good idea tbh :marseyexcited:)

I need to make a 1999.txt file to simulate what internet searches were like back then. I hated seeing the switch from Yahoo to Google. "Omg it's so clean looking." I guess but it's nice to see 3-4 headline news articles and the weather when you load up a search engine.

Same but also stackoverflow and quora. Someday I'll slap together an extension that does it for me, today is not that day. Can't believe Bing and Brave give better results, would have been unthinkable just five years ago. :marseyantiwork#:

I spent almost an hour yesterday searching a video clip of Cristina Kirchner in a TV interview talking about how Pochita from Chainsaw man is demonic and therefore Milei is evil.

When it happened there were really snappy funny clips about it everywhere, but they're all either deleted or removed from search results, doesn't matter if google or yandex.

  • this crap is the best I found, but it's 90% some youtuber bloviating and a 30 second clip of her saying it.

  • here is one of the clips I'm looking for in the middle third of a vertical screen, in extremely low image quality.

How are people so bad at figuring out aspect ratios. How do you get a squished video and go "yup good enough"

Also gross, please put a content warning before linking to uncensored taco language

:marseyfreud: you're only this tacophobic because you secretly want more latinx content:

that's another one I found, not thanks to google or yandex, after sifting through 5 months of posts of that reaction dude's insta account. the clip I'm looking for is still less than half the screen but at least better image quality.

REEE eBay

Every search I perform is Buy it Now, Lowest Price, condition: used. If i change any of the search terms it throws all that out.

Just remember my dang preferences. Seriously. I'm researching car parts and making a lot of very similar searches, obviously i want to keep the Buy-it-now that I selected 30 seconds ago.

And every single auction automatically has this video as the second picture. I've already seen it, i don't need to see it again

Besides you aren't guaranteeing shit because the sellers have no idea what they're selling. I had an entire section of that video I was making on improperly listed auctions -- Fusion mirrors listed as MKT, MKZ mirror listed as Focus, etc

[Jaypeg from my main computer of a newspaper ad for a Ford Focus that had the specs listed from an F250]

It's honestly insane to me the headcounts of big tech companies. Like, how do all these people have jobs? Is the entire company 30 megautists who actually inderstand the esoteric sorcery that goes into the product, and then 200,000 people running layers upon layers of psyops?

It's a principal-agent problem, and when companies get too big, the higher-ups have much more difficulty managing the middle :marseyfinger: managers, so they become further isolated from what's going :marseysal3: on at the 'ground level.'

For example, some companies avoid :marseynope: this kind of principal-agent problem by becoming a franchise like McDonalds. They don't have to have as much hands-on management of each location :marseymap2: because they source :marseymissing2: that out to many owners who buy rights :marseypride: to the franchise and run their own little :marseymaoist: McDonalds. All the higher-ups want is a cut and for you to follow :marseycursor: their menu. In a way, market  prices are more interspersed in this corporate :marseycatbert: climate, and decision-making is more decentralized.

With more monolithic hierarchies like Alphabet, instead of franchise owners managing their little :marseyapplejackpixelart: McDonalds, you have middle :marseyfrickyou: managers and sub-boards or sub-committees governing their fiefdoms over projects like Google :marseygetgle: , Google :marseygetgle: Docs, and its other numerous failed :marseychonkertrain: and ongoing projects. There's a lot less of market  mechanisms at play and more central planning, where :marseydrama: they fight  over budgets and can obscure :marseynonpotable: how valuable they are (as opposed :marseybeandefiant: to a simple :marseysmug4: report saying this is how much profit my McDonalds :marseymcwagie: have made, so here's your cut).

I've known a few people who worked at Google and from what I hear this is spot on. It's an insanely bureaucratic nightmare with fourteen committees for every change and more time spent in meetings than doing any real work.
