I worked with an Indian who said the end was near when the company we worked for hired an indian manager. He later got fired when he was driving to his destination for vacation and his indian manager told him to come back to do something and my coworker refused. lol I know my coworker thought he was irreplaceable, and everyone is replaceable but lol at indian managers. As a Buddhist whose read the Gita I will say those parts are concerns from the guy making the questions to the god in question, which I believed were handwaved away as unimportant. The real weirdness about the Gita is that the importance given to it by Hindus today is mostly just a reaction to a kind of self-consciousness they had about not having a specific all-encompassing holy book like the Bible or Quran.

Make no mistake the caste system is deeply important to Hindus, and not just in the "caste is just spiritual not genetic" sense.
Hindus believe in karmic merit and reincarnation. If a neighbor is born to a lowly caste, it's cause he's spiritually polluted from sins in his past life and therefore deserves whatever shitty treatment he gets. Caste discrimination is an orthodox belief to Hindus, the modern repudiations of caste are new innovations. The idea that it was the British that made the caste system bad is bullshit, even before British contact there were tons of examples of caste discrimination.
