Amazon now discloses you're buying a license to view Kindle eBooks
I've only bought a few ebooks but even then, I've immediately went and pirated them too to feel like I have something
Ever since Amazon removed copies of Orwell's "1984" from people's Kindles after sale, it's served as a reminder that ownership is a fickle thing
It's literally 1498.
It's ok boys, now you're allowed to pirate all books ever published as long as you don't seed.
If you heckon get the zucchini reference your a genus
This is the result of a recent law in California:
That button should say "Rent this book".
Claiming you can "Buy this book" is a lie and false advertising.
Yeah. I "bought" a Kindle copy of There Will Be War awhile back to get access to a few of the short stories in the collection.
Maybe not a super popular opinion on HN, but this effectively changes nothing for me. I love reading on my kindle, by far the most convenient way to buy and read books for me (esp when traveling often).
It's good that they are now being upfront about it, but it won't impact my buying behaviour and it won't for the majority of readers.
I don't think I would ever buy an e-book.
I really want to find a good way to buy DRM-free ebooks.
I really want to spend on
Support your local bookstore, before they are all gone.
Buy a printer moron
I have bought books from Amazon and Manning.com, mostly technical books. I have to say, I am so happy with the business model of Manning.com:
I am a booklicker , but I gots to say, some books taste better than others
And many more cuckistanis abound

I bought a 10 in tablet computer for comics and textbooks. Put Linux On it so No DRM. I charge it every few days while I shower. I can just read normal books on my phone. Color E ink still looks like shit.

I bought a color e reader because thats all the store had. I only use it for text lol. The contrast isn't as great as a B&W but it's still good for books. I don't read comic books though because I'm an adult

Which one?
I'm thinking of getting a new Kobo Libra Color soon, if it goes on sale again at least. It has a color screen but people seem to say the visual artifacts from the color screen are minor enough to not be noticeable unless you're staring at it up-close.

That's the one I have, I like it and it's quite readable. I only noticed the difference after using a B&W one

I'll probably get it then. I used to have a Kobo Libra 2 but it died so I'm looking for a replacement, I guess I could get another Libra 2 but figure I might as well get the newer one.
