Oh wow how totally legitimate and not just absolutely an attempt at viral marketing for a gpt-wrapper :marseysurejan:

Still can't believe that perplexity is worth more than a billion when it's literally just a GPT wrapper

Can't believe Apple is worth a trillion when they're literally just shuffling 0s and 1s around.

They make phones which have a mystical quality of giving tinder foids the "ick" if you don't also own one.

On the other hand perplexity is a GPT wrapper

Yeah, the obvious issue here is that he's applying to these companies in Bad Faith - that is, he's just doing it to show that he can pass the interviews not because he actually wants the job.

Tech companies need to adapt interviews to a post-GPT world but creating software that enthusiastically facilitates cheating is ethically questionable. Whether it justifies "cancelling" this guy, idk, but I have a feeling he'll be fine.

That would require integrity in testing, resulting in a disproportionate amount of whites getting hired, which is how you get sued by the Department of Justice.

I got a new job about 6 months ago and ads for these cowtools kept coming up. 700 bucks gets you access to an invisible ChatGPT interface that runs in the background and parses what the interviewer asks. It supposedly gives you follow up questions, a design sketch, code, etc. without you needing to type.

Companies will have to adapt. Moving back to in person interviews makes the most sense imo.

As an interviewer I had one obvious case like this (an "experienced" industry hire for a senior role). Their resume was like every red flag in the book though, they should never have got passed a resume screen.

in person interviews

How's that gonna work? Are they gonna fly 100000 sexy Indian dudes from india for 8 interview rounds with the HR, manager, lead programmer, another middle manager, manager again, CEO, janitor, office roomba, etc?

That's how it worked pre-pandemic :marseyshrug:

Hopefully the hiring binge is over though. Not good for the industry.

The Indians getting interviewed for US jobs are generally in the US already.

Most glaring one was that she was an "software architect" at a definitely real startup that only employed her and seemed mostly to publish 200 word ChatGPT generated blog posts about basic CS concepts.

I am going to complain about how that person got an interview every time I get turned down for the rest of my life

Dude it was so bad. This interview was for a role that probably would have paid like 600k+ if she'd actually been as experienced as claimed.

The whole thing was actually way funnier than I'm making it sound too, but I didn't want to post about it and link her resume and "startup" here because it would have been too easy to tie back to me and I don't want to self-dox more than I already do. She also had a 4 month stint as a senior manager at AWS and I'm like 100% positive she ChatGPT'd her way through the interview and ended up getting fired immediately. I'd love to talk to one of her reports lmao.

Huge waste of our time though. I complained and she's banned from re-applying.

what i love the most about indians are their confidence in calling these people out. like in my country we expect as an onset that people are honest so we would be too socially afraid to go out on a limb and call someone out lest he was just laggin

but indians expect scammers to like be real

The reason I'm in America along with so many critical people who built SpaceX, Tesla and hundreds of other companies that made America strong is because of H1B.

Take a big step back and FRICK YOURSELF in the face. I will go to war on this issue the likes of which you cannot possibly comprehend.
