How many Ls are they taking? Chrome just cut off uBlock, firef*x usage is about to skyrocket

Jump in the discussion.

it would if Firef*x actually worked. it's fricking sucked for years. as soon as chrome updates (I never close the window lol) I'm jumping to Brave or something

? I use Firef*x and chrome and safari every day and they all work fine, performance differences have long been marginal

FF has better extensions so I use it as primary

my university had an elearning platform that would flake out sometimes with firef*x (and there was some sections that just wouldn't work) :marseyrage: but also I had a separate expensive access code homework portal that popped up :nono: "firef*x reccomended" :marseyrage: and it was mandatory to check different pages in both every day :marseyrage:

Mines still running, did they just take it off the store? Who cares if you can just manually install it?

I opened it up yesterday and got a popup saying something like "these add-ons are no longer compatible with chrome" and ublock was on the list

I went to watch Landman on an illegal streaming site and it was now unusable due to infinite pop-ups, so I opened up firef*x and have been using it since. Could I figure out a workaround? Sure. But when firef*x still works why bother

literally just go into extensions and reactivate them

uBlock or uBlock Origin?

They've been sending popups that deactivate the latter in the paste few days, but you can just turn it back on.

uBlock Origin is getting the axe with the Manifest v2 going behind a flag and uBlock Origin Lite will be the only working one going forward with Manifest v3

Weird, I wonder why my PC still has it

Probably not gotten the newest Chrome update yet.

Could be a slow roll out, kind of like how youtube did their ad thing. No idea

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

It's a less powerful version of the extensions I think, chrome isn't blocking the downloads, the browser uses a v3 extension manifest with more api restrictions making ad blocking harder AFAIK. Codecels correct me if I'm wrong

Literally no one has made a compelling case against Brave :marseybrave:

They just sneed and :soyjaktantrum: about crypto

It uses google shit which is bad for the reasons ITT.

I'd have adopted it immediately tbh if they'd have done anything else. I'm no Firef*x fanboi but until they de-google then I'm using Firef*x.

Ew a Chrome fork run by Brandon Eichmann? Totally marks you as a homophobe, sweaty.

Brave is great, but I don't think your average person is going to download it over firef*x. You're absolutely right though but name recognition matters in cases like this

Brave definitely needs more credit so start talking about it more like @BraveShill

I've been very surprised how many normies install different browsers. I know people who use Opera GX and a few that use even weirder ones that are probably even more malware ridden

!zoomers - have you noticed this?

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

I've noticed Opera GX and even :marseybrave: but never any weirder browsers. What weirder browsers have you noticed?

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

DuckDuckGo, Vivaldi and Arc off the top of my head. Orion too I believe.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

Those browsers aren't any weirder than Opera GX or Brave

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

You don't think? Opera was a historical name and Brave is somewhat old at this point.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

Vivaldi is older than Brave and made by one of the Opera founders, DuckDuckGo is a household name in privacy search, so I don't classify their browser as any weirder, however I'll agree with you on Orion and Arc, which is a giga-meme browser.

Yeah I know bb, it's the best they can do on the Chrome engine. It looks like it's still a separate window? For Firef*x, it's embedded directly into the browser, plus I'm able to remove the normal tabs entirely.

It's a super fun solitaire game. I've been methodically going through all the decks at each stake level, almost done w/ black stake on all of them.

Do you like it bb?

I would love firef*x to be good, I wouldn't even care about their woke shenanigans. But the fact is ff is so beyond shit it might as well be netscape at this point.

Nobody who is a serious adult uses firef*x.

Some little catfight with a fork no one has ever heard of and a memo about USAID funding that no one will see is not going to stop people from downloading firef*x

I don't think you realize how shitty the internet is without a simple installation of something like uBlock. Plus firef*x ublock still works on YouTube

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

Yeah chrome updated and got rid of my adblocker. Gave it a minute just to see if i was misremembering ads and nope - the internet is nigh unusable without adblocker. Uninstalled chrome right there. Will probably be back when i lazily stumble upon a replacement for ublock origin (the lite version doesnt get everything)
