My work laptop has 16GB of RAM (company is too r-slurred to get another stick). Windows 11 and Teams eats through 8-10GB by themselves since 2024H2. Another 2-4GB is used for caching, which gets emptied when I run things. Opening Altium and an IDE together slows the computer to a crawl :/

Win10 wasn't anywhere near this bad.

I'm gaming on Linux for a while now and 95% of stuff works. Only had issues with some niche stuff, mostly to like lack of joystick software.

Linux mint and proton on steam work well. Lutris works for mostly everything else.

Setting Tarkov was a pain but usually some nerd has made a Linux installer that u can run

If it's a native Linux port, like Civilization VI, it'll almost certainly run better than the Windows port. Although the performance will still be within margin of error.

A lot of Windows games have been shown running better on Bazzite than Windows on the same hardware, but it's generally only a few FPS either way. It's not reason enough to switch on its own.

If you can get everything running, yes.

They'll run fine. You'll have less games compatible with the OS (I'm not a fan of proton tbh) but there really is a lot of stuff to play natively nowadays.

I used to avoid anything that required 3D graphics because the drivers were so poor. But I recently tested Cyberpunk out of curiosity and it runs exactly the same as on windows nowadays.

My partner ran whatever the latest Final Fantasy is via Proton on Linux and it outperformed Windows (same hardware, same drive).

It seems every game I try has minor problems. Maybe some random crash, or text misaligned and that kind of thing.
