For the Ukies, its the Biden polls since they are so heavily dependent on external support. Probably the same reason why they've been holding on to Bakhmut for so long.

Thing with Bakhmut it’s Zelenskyy polls. Burgers many time told him to leave bakhmut to focus on “counter offensive” but he used elite soldiers that were supposed to go on offensive to protect bakhmut. Burgers also showed they will gladly replace Zelenskyy.

So Zelenskyy needs bakhmut but Biden needs any counter offensive , to Biden don’t even need to be huge just something to sell as win and then quit Ukraine.

France is already talking with China about ending that war this summer and Germany wants to end this autumn.

Many in the west think if Ukraine launch a counteroffensive and fails then they will start peace talk and be done with it but that’s not how real life works. Russian started preparation for new mobilization, they adjusting economy and getting now Chinese support. If Ukraine launch a counteroffensive and fails, Russian will reject any peace talk.
