I mean I don't disagree I don't think Putin will invade any NATO country despite his grandstanding and threats, but I do think it is increasingly likely that he will take the next step after funding all the far right and separatist anti EU/NATO fringe parties and just start straight up arming some of them
Yeah, he's never going to stop chipping away and subverting. Putin is he's basically the Jeff Bezos of dictators.
The chance of there being more indirect warfare between Russia and NATO is very high, even after Ukraine is concluded. Maybe that will spill over into a direct conflict as things escalate, but NATO should welcome that more than Russia at this stage.
A lot more dominoes are going to have to tip (mainly the Baltics) for it not to be a suicidal prospect for Russia.
I don't think Putin has very many years left anyway, I feel like this stuff is going to be pretty slow and once he's gone Russia's gonna implode politically
If history is anything to go by, Russia will implode - there will be all kinds of hope for change from the West - and then it will reemerge with another guy who is almost as bad, or worse, than Putin at the helm.
It's definitely not going to get better, but Putin has intentionally made it so there isn't a clear successor- I think the infighting will have some very negative consequences on the country, beyond the political loss of Putin being gone, and even if whoever follows Putin isn't going to be better the country will be at the very least significantly weakened economically and politically
Putin had pretty much directly threatened Ukraine with war if they tried to enter NATO way before that you fricking r-slurs. Stop parroting whatever slop corporate media feed you
Yeah I mean they've only invaded Georgia, Crimea, Donbas, and then Ukraine proper. Why would anyone think they would go after other former satellite states?
It's as if Russia attacks any former satellite state that tries to enter NATO or something and the American psychopaths knew that which is why they tried to enter Ukraine into NATO
NATOids: "Sure we almost started a nuclear war because the Soviets tried to put nuclear weapons in a sovereign country that was next to us after we tried to put them to Turkey, sure we threatened the Solomon Islands with war just the previous year if they allowed Chinese military bases there but we had NO idea Russia would do this to their neighbor of their most vulnerable border if we started lobbying for an Ukraine NATO membership"

Isn't this entire conflict simply the result of the Euromaidan, which was in turn merely a reaction to Russia exerting diplomatic influence on Ukraine? It's pretty clear the Kremlin has been intent on bringing Kiev under its thumb for over a decade.
the American psychopaths
What makes America any more psychopathic than every other national actor involved? What's so wrong with pursuing their national interests at the expense of foreigners*? Everyone else is doing it.
*I include both the Russians and Ukrainians under this term.

It's as if Euromaidan along with Syria's and Libya's "civil wars" were Obama's doctrine of overthrowing governments with a combination of sneaky NGO bullshit and the CIA funding and arming of extremists, in Libya and Syria actual Muslim terrorists that were sending truckloads of weapons to ISIS which is how it became so successful and in Ukraine neonazis, and that what you call Euromaidan was another American coup d'etat of a democratically elected government

And there was no invasion! It's a special military operation now, chud
Dude look at Polands arms deals alone. They couldn't take on Poland now, forget about the rest of Europe. Also Poland and Estonia bought a ton of coastal batteries and air defense so there couldn't even use there navy or air force.

Does anyone outside of Twitter actually believe this?
I know Romney definitely doesn't. It's just something politicians are pretending to believe.

Yeah, NATO would have to be weakened significantly from where it even is now for this to make any sense.
And while Putin is a gambler and pretty incompetent, he's actually not Hitler. He's not likely to make any suicidally bad decisions.

Also Russia would 100% invade the baltics the second it sensed NATO wouldn't absolutely defend it.
