I can't believe I was right when I said west gave most of its artillery to Ukraine
In 2022 Ukraine received 200 of those (100% now more) that would mean 1/5 of what U.S. has.
The U.S. Army is moving to establish a second production source for barrels for 155mm M777 towed howitzers in response to what it calls "unprecedented demand" from Ukraine. Only one U.S. government-owned and operated arsenal makes the barrels and that facility cannot currently meet a requirement to churn out more than 30 new ones each month.
Barrels are the most important part so it's as good as sending new gun.
It is unclear how many M777s Ukraine has received from the U.S. military and other sources since Russia launched its all-out invasion in February 2022. A Pentagon factsheet put out in December simply says the United States has provided "more than 200 155mm howitzers,
You remember when Redditors were believing that everything Ukraine receives is officially reported. But it turned out not to be true but they still can cope that Ukraine only has 31 abrams while Russian captured more than 31 abrams and technically have more abrams than Poland.
How many M777s are in active Ukrainian service today is also not clear. There is visual documentation of nearly 100 M777s being damaged or destroyed in Russian attacks, which may not reflect the complete total. Some damaged howitzers could have been put back into operation, as well.
The using as cope source "oryx" but it's interesting that oryx admitted 129 Bradley's lost
It's very interesting that's it's "more than" and not exact number like with T72 45
Some comments
Barrel wear can not be avoided, and the higher the muzzle velocity and further the range, the shorter the usable lifetime of barrels. As the barrels wear out, the accuracy declines, but since the accuracy of Western made artillery is generally superior to guns made in RuZZia and/or the Soviet Union that danger is somewhat lower for the Ukrainian side. Still, barrel wear is serious and barrels are a component that needs to be replaced after a certain use. Think of it like a gear box from a Ford Taurus. needs to be replaced after 100,000 miles. No big deal, as long as you are prepared.
We know that the RuZZians are already sending artillery from the early 1950s to the frontlines and pictures of storage depots show lots of guns and also tanks without barrels.
Article literally says US can't keep up replacing them and he writes "no big deal as long as you are prepared"

Artillery is just tube that sends out shell. If its work. It works.
Also at least in here. Tanks are stored without turret or some cases without barrel. No idea if this is case or if russians are using them as spare part. Which is also normal. But not perfect. UK for instanse has been stripping their tanks for parts recent years.
What i dont get is how come west cant keep up with barrel production. Its year 3 of the war. And manfucaturicng isnt there.
Russia for instanse is using old austrian rotory forges it brought during soviet times. They brought 7 of them and some of them are in use beocuse there is video from late 2010s where we see one of them in use.
Somene calculated how many barrels one of them can produce in year. Then if they have few of them in use. They can easily meet demand of russia.
Yet how come west stil hasn't set up production for barrels to meet demand. Is concept of mothballing forge once its not needed so scary for west it cant do it.

UK at this point is dead, they wanted to increase their military size in 2022 but every year it becomes smaller.

I am also pretty sure they all knew that Ukraine wasn't going to win and the only way to stop Russia would been to send their own soldiers and that also probably wouldn't had worked out since young men especially fit enough and psychological stabile enough to join army wouldn't do it.
So instead in 2021 telling ok Ukraine won't join NATO
They started some telling some moral bs about how everyone has free will and nato doors are open.
And now 3 years later they saying ok Ukraine won't join nato

Ukrain had chanse to win or at least negotiate really good peace deal. But that was before russia mobilised reserves.
But ukrain didnt have organsiation to pull it off. For some reason. Its not entirely clear why ukrain military is organised way it is.
But that is why they couldn't capitalise on 2022 Kharkiv counteroffensive massive victory. And Surovikin was in charge then. Thats one hard nut to crack.
But after 2023 counter offensive it became clear ukrain had lost their chanses.

Simplicius explained this pretty well in a longass article, but basically Russia is making more war materiel than it needs because their culture is prepared to fight an existential war, and USA isn't, because USA isn't. USA is set up for peacetime mallninja LARP military production levels. Can't do jack shit for actual wartime manufacturing unless POTUS invokes the war powers last used to make ventilators in the covid era.

But its isnt just US. Its europe+US. You wouls think that one country had equipment standing somewhere or willingness to build war time production and start to churnout barrels.
Them mothball that factory like russia did

Nah. The entire western culture is resting on its laurels until like 2023 and it takes ages to spin up production, after the political will exists to even start trying. The factories don't get mothballed, they get turned into shopping malls.

Its just so crazy to think west cant collectively allow any slack on production or any surge capacity. Even after covid or urkain war.
Videos of factories that make gun barrels arent thay big. Not even size of regular mega store. But it cant exsist if its not used 24/7 356 days in year. War or peace.

Any existential war for either Russia or the US would end in nuclear Armageddon. Nobody bothers prepared for it beyond maintaining their nuclear arsenal.
Russia makes tons of war materials because they're constantly plotting to invade and annex non-nuclear neighboring countries. Because Russians are r-slurred they need to resort to WWII tactics for that. The US doesn't need to do that because they can use modern tactics to decapitate a country. Neither way works against another nuclear power.
