I have a feeling the magic was lost with Tokyo 2020. It just wasn't the same after the pandemic. Additionally, the time of these bloated sporting events is coming to an end (aside from perhaps the World Cup) as cities realise the cost/benefit doesn't stack up. For example, there is no current host city for the next Commonwealth Games after Victoria pulled out.

Even the WC is getting cucked because the number of countries who have the infrastructure required and can afford it are just the big Euro football nations + Yanks + oil rich oligarchies. The next 2 WCs are both joint bids from 3+ nations and so far there's only a singular bid for the 2034 WC,
