Handmaid's Tale is becoming an HP-level "read another book" at this point. Every single current event is compared to some plot point in it. Not only that, but the book has also overtaken any critical thinking skill left in the mind of an average lib woman, who has now supplanted her predictions of the future direction of society with the plot of the book. It's wild how suggestible their brains are, any capacity for thought is just completely drowned out by the media they consume.

It's interesting because of how little sway the religious right actually has on Trump. If we read current events as satire or critique, this current episode reveals how quickly the religious right will give up its values in search of power they will never possess, rather than how bad they would be if given power.
